Valtaki beach is 5 km north of Gytheio and is sometimes referred to as Selinitsa beach, which is the name of another beach next to it. You will recognize Valtaki the wreck near the coast, it is visible from the road.
The wreck is Demetrius and was on the beach since 1981. There are many versions of how it got there. Some sources claim that it was cigarette smuggling and set fire to hide the evidence, others say that curiously disappeared from the port of Gytheio to find burned in Valtaki. Anyway, the ship is still there and just a few meters from the shore, it is easy to explore and make extraordinary photos beach.
The Valtaki beach is long and narrow. It is not organized and has no facilities available there in comparison with the neighbor Selinitsa beach which is Blue Flag and has beach bar.
