Five days through mountain Corinthia and Mainalo
Move from a wetland basin and mountain lake to the stone villages above the Lousios. Two bases keep this journey practical, while a full transfer day prevents the drive across the interior from competing with a long walk.

- Time on the road
- 5 days · 4 nights
- Your pace
- Moderate with winding roads and optional walking
- When to go
- late spring or autumn; winter as a village trip with flexible roads
Where you’ll spend the night
Trikala nights 1–2; Dimitsana nights 3–4; two bases, one hotel change
Stymphalia and the highlands
Start from Corinth or Athens and make the Stymphalia Environment Museum your first substantial stop. Look across the wetland from permitted viewpoints, then continue to your accommodation in Trikala Corinthias. Keep the evening in the villages.
Feneos and Lake Doxa
Make a local loop to the Feneos basin and Lake Doxa. Spend time at the shore, then choose a village meal in Goura before returning to Trikala. The Agios Georgios monastery is optional and depends on visiting arrangements. Do not add a high Ziria hike to this lake day.
A deliberate move to Mainalo
Transfer to Dimitsana by a route appropriate to the weather and your vehicle. Prefer the straightforward main-road option when mountain conditions are uncertain. Stop in Vytina if the chosen route and daylight permit. Arrive with enough time to settle into Dimitsana before dinner.

Dimitsana and water power
Visit the Open-Air Water Power Museum and walk through Dimitsana. Hikers can instead devote the day to a suitable Menalon Trail section, with transport back to the start arranged beforehand. The museum and a demanding hike should not be competing appointments.
Stemnitsa and the onward journey
Spend the morning in Stemnitsa, then return towards Tripoli and Corinth. A monastery approach in the Lousios can replace the village walk if access and time permit. Finish any walking before beginning the longer return journey.
Before you go
Check museum days, trail notices and mountain-road conditions. Arrange a walking transfer if choosing a linear trail.
Stay on paved public roads. Motorcycle riders should select the road route separately from walking or cycling tracks shown on maps, and avoid a high crossing in poor visibility.
Adjust the pace
With more time: Add a third Dimitsana night to separate the museum, Stemnitsa and a gorge walk.
With less time: Keep either mountain Corinthia or Mainalo for a three-day trip.
Allow extra travel time. Day 3 is the main cross-region transfer; Day 5 is longest if returning to Athens.
