Mountains and walking

The uplands of Corinthia, Arcadia and Achaia support journeys with several nights in one base. Choose the walk first, then decide how much driving fits around it.

Find a suitable base

Trikala works for the Corinthian mountains. Dimitsana, Stemnitsa and Vytina connect with different parts of Mainalo and the Menalon Trail. Kalavryta offers a base in Achaia. On the eastern side, Leonidio supports a separate Parnon excursion; Kardamyli has its own walking network in western Mani.

Choose a section rather than a promise

A named long-distance trail includes sections with different demands. Use the current trail information, understand the ascent and surface, and arrange the return from a one-way walk. The Menalon Trail’s complete route is not a casual single-day outing.

Leave room to change the day

Rain, heat, snow, fire restrictions or damaged paths can change access. Use a village or museum day when the walk is unsuitable. River gorges and railway corridors require specific access information; do not follow tracks or enter a gorge merely because a line appears on a map.
