What makes it stand out
Arrive through the Pounta crossing and settle into the main village before heading out to the beaches. Simos and Sarakiniko share a distinctive sandy setting, while the western side around Kato Nisi and Panagia gives a longer stay another direction. Dunes and coastal vegetation are part of the landscape you came to see, so use established approaches and keep vehicles away from sensitive ground.
The main settlement offers an evening focus around the harbour. Choose accommodation there if walking to meals matters, or check the transport implications carefully before booking elsewhere on the island.
Planning your visit
Confirm ferry times, vehicle carriage, queues and weather directly with the operator for your dates. Pounta is the mainland departure for the regular local crossing; Neapoli is the nearby service-town base. Do not attach a fixed flight connection to the last possible sailing. Beach conditions and services vary, and a summer photograph is not a safety assessment. Add island nights by extending the route or removing another region, not by compressing a full Mani programme.
