What makes it stand out
The headland’s appeal comes from the open sea and exposed limestone setting. Plan the lighthouse walk as the main outdoor objective of the day, with Vathia as a separate road stop. There is no need to add a claim about continental extremities to make the place worth visiting.
Planning your visit
Assess the current path, heat, wind and daylight before setting out. Carry water and suitable footwear, and include the return walk in your turnaround plan. In poor conditions, shorten the day to the settlements and coast instead. Gerolimenas or another deep-Mani base is preferable to a late return across much of Laconia. Road motorcycles, like cars, stay at the permitted road access.
