Methana

Methana is a volcanic peninsula on the northeastern edge of the geographic Peloponnese. Its town, villages and higher terrain make a distinct extension to a southern Argolis road journey, although it belongs administratively to Attica.

What makes it stand out

The volcanic setting gives the landscape its identity. Use the coastal town as a gentle introduction, then choose a separate road or walking excursion into the peninsula. The history of thermal bathing is another part of Methana’s story, but a spa visit should be based on current operation and your own needs, not on promised health benefits.

Planning your visit

One night works for a brief introduction; two allow a walking day without a same-day return to Athens. Confirm route condition, effort and weather before attempting volcanic terrain. A marked hiking route is not a road for a rental car or touring motorcycle. Check any bathing facility directly; this travel guide does not recommend treatment, and relevant health questions belong with a qualified professional.
