What makes it stand out
The remains and museum material help connect a major sanctuary with the city and region around it. This is a focused excursion for travellers who want more of Arcadia’s ancient history after the better-known coastal and Argolid sites. It also provides a useful contrast with Mantineia on the other side of the plateau.
Planning your visit
Use Tripoli as the base and check the museum and archaeological access before arranging the day. Leave time to visit both where available, rather than treating the museum as a spare-minute stop. Do not combine a detailed Tegea visit with a long mountain walk and transfer on the same day. A plateau day can be satisfying without covering the whole of Arcadia.
