What makes it stand out
The smaller depression has an entrance route leading down inside, with chapels set into the rock. Its interest comes from the change between the ordinary landscape above and the enclosed space below. The larger depression is a separate feature; do not assume that one access route serves both or that every visible edge is safe to approach.
Planning your visit
Check local signs and the current access before descending. Steps, a confined approach and uneven ground make this a different outing from a flat village walk. Avoid edges and respect the chapels as religious spaces. Combine Didyma with an Ermioni or Porto Heli stay, leaving enough time for the visit rather than stopping in a rush during a long cross-peninsula transfer.
