Peloponnese from Athens

A road trip from Athens enters the Peloponnese through Corinthia. Start with the length of your stay: a short break works best around Corinth and Nafplio, while longer journeys can continue south or into the mountains.

Two or three days

Use Nafplio as your overnight base. On a two-day visit, choose Ancient Corinth on the outward journey and one major Argolis site on the second day. With a third day, separate Mycenae and Epidaurus and keep an evening for Nafplio. Palamidi is a meaningful visit of its own, not a stop that must be squeezed in after everything else.

Five days or a week

For mountains, stay in Trikala and Dimitsana rather than attempting a coast-to-coast loop. For a longer southern journey, choose either Monemvasia and the Vatika coast or western Mani and Kalamata. Connecting both is possible with more nights, but a short trip loses much of its value when each day begins with a long transfer.

Arrival and return

An international arrival, vehicle collection and unfamiliar roads all take energy. Use your actual landing time when deciding whether to drive onward that day. On the return, leave a generous margin for traffic, refuelling and vehicle handover. Do not put an uncertain boat excursion or remote mountain walk immediately before a fixed flight.
