The Peloponnese with children

A family journey works best with fewer accommodation changes and a clear balance between planned visits and free time. Choose a base that makes meals, rest and a change of plan straightforward.

Use strong bases

Nafplio offers town time between archaeological outings. Kalamata and Pylos support varied regional days. Keep a major site to the cooler part of the day when possible, and allow the visit to be shorter than an adult specialist itinerary.

Check the detail before booking

Ask about room layout, steps, parking distance and the exact beach approach. For caves and boats, confirm age or height restrictions, boarding arrangements and whether your group can comfortably complete the visit. A scenic place is not automatically suitable for every child or pushchair.

Leave a day partly open

A beach, playground or quiet afternoon may matter more than another landmark. Keep drinks, food and breaks available on transfer days. Choose routes with a flexible final stop so that tiredness can change the plan without affecting the next night’s accommodation.
